More nature writing!!!

2. Describe specific connections between both Into Thin Air and Into the Wild and your experiences in the many aspects of MSB.

The connections between into the wild and into thin air are obviously the love for nature and the willing to stay so long into the harsh cold, or dangerous wildlife. From these reading I got a better way to use my secondary sources, or other information and facts. Main character Chris McCandles died so he was not able to share his adventorious stories to the readers. For my MSB projects the Seals cant tell their stories of the controversy they have been going on for about two decades, so I told the story for them with facts and quotes from secondary sources. I felt these nature books were really helpful to help us improve our MSB writings and instead of writing about all the harms we can now make our text full of solutions and helpful information that doesnt make us sound like horrible humans that dont care about the earth at all.

Honors History

This past semester while enrolling myself as an honors student, I felt completly challenged and I have found a new love for history. I feel that I have learned a lot while being an honors students and I got to a deeper learning experience for historical related class topics, I feel the blog and prompts we were assigned were great and it was a exciting challenge researching through your text books, and on the web for information and quotes for citations. I really enjoyed the work I did as an honors student, and I feel I put my all into it.

If I were given the chance to re-do this semster to improve my honors work, I feel I would have set a up organized calendar with all my honors assignments that were due and when. i would have also set up outlines instead of researching each night and saving key points and fact into a word document then structuring the entire essay and finishing it the night its due.

Some goals I have set up for myself for my second semester of humanities honors class would be to:

- Structure essays, or blog assignments two days ahead of due dat on my blog.

- Highlight key points or facts in my "Nations of Nations" book, and annotate each chapter.

- Set up a calendar for all my assignments due in Humanities, and highlight the honors assignments and have alerts sent to my phone.

- Buy more history books to help me out with future history writings or borrow some from teachers that are willing to lend their own.

If I were to choose a honors assignment that I feel I worked hardest on or is most presentable for only being two drafts, think it would be between my "Civil War Essay" or my "Honors Novel Essay" I feel it falls between these two because they were the first and I was so thrilled to start my honors assignments. My Civil War Essay was my biggest struggled seeing as it took me so long to come up with a perfect thesis statement. My novel Essay is a favorite because I personally choose the book myself and I found a real message through it that I expressed throughout my essay, Although I only chose these two it dos not mean that I am no proud of my other honors assignments.

Into the Wild

1. Do you feel, as one letter writer did, that there is “nothing positive at all about Chris McCandless’ lifestyle or wilderness doctrine …surviving a near death experience does not make you a better human it makes you damn lucky” (116); or do you see something admirable or noble in his struggles and adventures?

Although he does not survive, I believe that Chris McCandles was admirable for his lifestyle. Throughout his journey's and adventures, McCandless influenced a lot of people to live positive lives and left behind good memories.

Throughout the book Chris' journeys were filled with adventure and influencing others lives to be more positive, one character in particular Chris influenced and bonded with was Jan Burres, throught the book Chris met her while looking for books at a swap meet. Chris soon began to help Jan organize and sell her items, Jan and Chris grew stronger and he opened up into an outgoing fun-loving person. After Chris left to continue traveling Jan kept memories of the times they shared bonding and being postive towards life. A qutoe that stood out to me that was commenting on Chris' actions was “he was looking for more of an adventure and freedom than today’s society gives,” (page 174)

In order to be admirable and positive in life, you have to follow through with your dreams and inspire people to do the same, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream and that was one day he would see all races get along and work together in the world as equals. His dream did come true although he was not able to live to see his dream become reality. People like Chris and Dr. King inspire me to do what i truley want in life because reading their stories they to have enjoyed what they did, and met lots of great people while influencing them.

I saw a lot positive in Chris' life he was a nice young man, and had a lot of people to keep in touch with that were willing to do anything to help keep him safe and sound, Chris refused a good majority of the oppurtunities handed his way, but I feel it was cause he was selfless and not a reckless nor immature guy.

Chris did not enjoy his "civilzed" lifestyle and when he went "into the wild" he found peace within himself and all the beautiful things around his, although his death was tragic Chris died following his dream so he died happy and complete. If the book would hve ended differently like Chris surviving I am sure he would have re-united with his family and they would have learned to better understand eachother and love one another. It was not like Chris was a bad child we got a proper education and cared for it, never got himself into trouble, and was an extremely selfless human being.

In order to follow your dreams you need to be dedicated like Chris was throughout the book, he went out into the wild unprepared and brave, he was ready for whatever life threw his way. He had wonderful people who gave his rides to places ans offered to give him food, shelter, money, a job, hunting gear, or anything that could help him survive a little longer in the wild.

into the wild practice

Do you feel, as one letter writer did, that there is “nothing positive at all about Chris McCandless’ lifestyle or wilderness doctrine …surviving a near death experience does not make you a better human it makes you damn lucky” (116); or do you see something admirable or noble in his struggles and adventures? Was he justified in the pain he brought to family and friends in choosing his own solitary course in life?

I do not feel like the writer did, I thought there was a lot of positive things going on in his life, throughout his entire trip he was extremely lucky with all the people he met and were willing to help him out. He did make very drastic decisions and put himself in danger a lot. I think he personally went out into the wild to be just like the many authors he admires.

Read the italicized passage on page 168 that McCandless wrote and the italicized passage he highlighted from Tolstoy on page 169. Based on these writings and events in this chapter, what convinced McCandless that it was time to return to civilization? What did he learn from his time “in the wild”?

He decided it was his time to leave the wild because he meant so many new people that changed his opinion about the way humans function, and how the are civilized. I feel he thought he could accept his family for who they are if things didnt end the way they did, if the book ended on a different note I am sure it would have been a happy ending about his changed opinions.
